Is Trump Calling The Shots In The Senate?

(TargetLiberty.org) – On Sunday, Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) opposed the claims that former President Donald Trump was calling the shots in Congress following the failure of a bipartisan border deal.

During an appearance on NBC’s “Meet the Press,” host Kristen Welker had asked Graham whether he had a response to Sen. Lisa Murkowski (R-Alaska) that there was no point to lawmakers in the Senate existing if they needed to receive permission from former President Trump for everything that they did. She proceeded to push that it was necessary for them to start doing their work.

Welker had proceeded to ask Graham whether he had a response to the claims that Trump was the one making the decisions in the Senate.

Graham argued that this was not the case and that in the past he has voted for things that Trump was not in support of. He added that to Murkowski the point is whether or not they would support the idea of having their ally pay them back for loans when the country was $34 trillion in debt. He then pointed out that this was all about putting America first and that this did not relate to following isolationist policies. Instead, it was just looking into covering the needs of the American people.

He continued by arguing that he would be heading to Ukraine soon and that he was hopeful he would be able to tell the country that they would be sending aid their way soon. However, he argued that aid should come in the form of a loan so that Ukraine can pay them back whenever they can. He added that he wanted to make sure that Russia was aware that Ukraine was not going to be out of the fight.
