(TargetLiberty.org) – On Saturday morning, former President Donald Trump in a recent post on his social media platform Truth Social endorsed Republican mayor Trent Staggs who is looking to win the Senate seat currently held by retiring GOP Sen. Mitt Romney.

Trump in his post noted that Staggs was “100% MAGA” and stated that he was running to win the seat currently held by Romney. He continued by praising Staggs, who he referred to as a successful entrepreneur who had performed “brilliantly” while serving as mayor for the last six years. He added that Staggs knew how to create jobs, reduce inflation, increase border security, and better the economy.

In his post, Trump also noted that if Staggs becomes the next Senator he is going to be helping with providing support to military veterans and unleashing American energy. This is why as he stated Staggs had his endorsement, as he was going to be a great Senator that would never let down the American people.

This endorsement came after close to a dozen Republicans faced off to win the primary nomination in the race. This is a particularly important race as it could affect the face of political conservatism and the type of conservatism that is most appealing to the state’s voters.

Staggs, who is the mayor of Riverton, first emerged in the public sphere in 2020 after he opposed the mask mandates during the coronavirus pandemic. Last May, before Romney announced that he would not be seeking reelection and would instead be retiring, Staggs had announced that he would be running in the state election.

At the time Staggs had told Fox News Digital that he was worried about the country that his children would inherit and that he would be pushing back against the government bureaucrats who were destroying the future of the next generation.
