(TargetLiberty.org) – Former President Donald Trump, who is the presumptive Republican presidential nominee, has officially ruled off former Governor of South Carolina Nikki Haley from his “shortlist” but North Dakota Gov. Doug Burgum continues to be one of the possible options.
On Saturday night, while at Trump’s Wildwood, New Jersey rally, Burgum told the New York Post that if the Trump team called for him to come on board then he would be saying yes. With Burgum and his wife, Kathryn, being one of the couples on Trump’s shortlist joining his campaign trail they have had to answer numerous questions about the possibility of becoming the vice president and second lady.
Burgum told the post that he kind of “dismissed” all that and pointed out that Trump had been asked only a week ago about his short list and had argued that there were more than 50 people on that list. He added that this meant that the list could be very extensive and long. He continued by pointing out that his campaigning with Trump was about helping him gain momentum toward the Republican National Convention, and not about trying to earn his respect to become the vice president.
He added that he believes that everyone who cares about the country needs to be helping former President Trump’s campaign, which is what he and his wife are doing.
Burgum also said of Trump that one of the most remarkable things about him is how hard he was working and that every time he is on a flight he is working. He added that everyone on Trump’s team cared a lot about the country.
