(TargetLiberty.org) – President Joe Biden referred to Hispanic migrants as “voters,” in a viral clip released by a Spanish-speaking radio show on Tuesday.

Discussing the ongoing migrant crisis, Biden stated there’s “even a bigger influx… of Hispanic voters” before quickly attempting to correct his mistake by saying, “Hispanic citizens, who want to become [U.S.] citizens.”

The President compared the influx of Central American migrants to the 1840 Ireland exodus that occurred because of a “famine and the way Irish Catholics were treated.”

Biden then explained how the “Hispanic community” would be “part of the future of America,” referencing how nearly a third of all school students speak Spanish and querying how that could be ignored when that is “our future.”

The President then claimed that “one of the reasons” the U.S. is experiencing growth is because of the “significant influx of immigrants,” suggesting that is the “only reason our economy’s so good.”

He added that since the U.S. is “not a xenophobic nation,” the economy remained “the best in the world.”

Over on X, Biden’s critics took note of what they believed to be a Freudian slip when he referred to immigrants as “voters.”

Retweeting footage of the clip, radio personality Tara Servatius suggested that “Biden accidentally” confirmed his lax border policies stemmed from his belief immigrants would be “future Democrat voters.”

New York Post columnist Miranda Devine captioned the video, “Oops! Freudian slip.”

However, the White House denied that Biden’s statements were rooted in plans to bolster votes for Democrats, stating that “Only American citizens can vote in federal elections.”
