(TargetLiberty.org) – Former President Donald Trump, who is the presumed Republican presidential nominee argued on Monday that it was President Biden who was trying to get TikTok banned, and that if such a ban did get imposed it would be because of him.

On Saturday the House of Representatives passed a bipartisan bill, 360-58 votes, which would ByteDance, the Chinese-owned parent company of TikTok nine months to divest its operations in the United States or potentially face a ban. The bill is now going to be heading to the Senate, where if it is successful it will be sent to Biden’s office. President Biden has already stated that if the bill passes he would be signing it to law.

On Monday, Trump took to his own social media platform Truth Social to state that Biden was going to be “responsible” for a TikTok ban. He added that he is the one who is pushing this bill forward and he is doing so with the assistance of his Facebook friends. He continued by arguing that all of these efforts were just so they could become more “dominant” and rich.

Trump has urged young voters to look at the position held by Biden before making a choice of who to vote for in the upcoming election.

Despite these claims when Trump was the president in 2020 he also tried to ban TikTok as well as WeChat, a Chinese-owned platform, because of what he called national security concerns. However, the attempt had been blocked by the courts.

TikTok has repeatedly claimed that they do not share user data with the Chinese government.
