(TargetLiberty.org) – On Thursday during the House Oversight and Accountability Committee’s first impeachment hearing Congresswoman Jasmine Crockett (D-Texas) called out Republicans for ignoring the charges against former President Donald Trump while proceeding with President Biden’s impeachment inquiry.
The impeachment inquiry was launched last month and it looks into the allegations that Joe Biden was involved in his son Hunter Biden’s foreign business activities. During the questioning, Crockett slammed the House GOP for their investigation into Biden but not into Trump’s business affairs with the Chinese government.
She further brought forward a Congressional Integrity Project fact sheet which included information about the financial dealings between Trump and China. As she pointed out the Republicans had placed all of their attention on Hunter Biden, rather than examining the allegations against Trump. She added that it was “disturbing” that there was no specific crime relating to President Biden that they could point to, and that all of the expert witnesses stated that the evidence to impeach Biden is insufficient.
Crockett further criticized the GOP for acting “blind to evidence” and proceeded to refer to the documents recovered from Trump’s Mar-a-Lago estate, while also listing the charges against Trump. The documents found in Trump’s home are the country’s “national secrets,” while Biden’s only crime was loving his son unconditionally.
Finally, she stated that until evidence was found for these allegations everyone needed to return to work and try to get the government to remain open. This was a reference to the looming government funding deadline.
