(TargetLiberty.org) – In March, the FEC data showed that former President Donald Trump’s presidential campaign spent $4 million to cover his legal fees.

The legal battles that Trump is facing have been taking up not only his funds but also his time as he is now forced to attend the courtroom where his New York City hush money case has started. The Wall Street Journal was the first to report on the FEC data which had shown that since early 2023, Trump’s campaign has had to spend $66 million in legal-related costs.

The Save America leadership PAC had reportedly used up all of its available funds to cover the different legal fees. However, Trump’s campaign has argued that the funds have not just been used for legal cases.

Steven Cheung, the Trump campaign spokesperson, told WSJ that Save America covered different expenses for the former President and that not all of them were related to the illegal witch hunt from Joe Biden.

While the campaign had to spend a considerable amount in March, the cash lead of former President Biden has continued to grow. The PACs and campaign had reportedly managed to increase its cash on hand to $97.2 million. Almost half of that, $44.6 million, is held by the campaign.

President Biden has considerably more cash on hand as his campaign has reported $85.5 million cash on hand according to its end-of-month filing. Julie Chavez Rodriguez, Biden’s campaign manager, pointed out that they had raised historic levels of money and that it would be critical to the work they were doing in order to build winning operations that are completely focused on the voters. She pointed out that this was extremely different to Trump’s operation which was using its limited funds in order to cover his different legal fees.
