(TargetLiberty.org) – On Thursday, Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) praised Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) for stating that Russian President Vladimir Putin was a “war criminal” during a recent interview.

Taking to Twitter, Graham wrote that DeSantis’s “description of Putin being a thug and a war criminal is spot on.” He then proceeded to pose a question about what other name could potentially be given to a nation’s leader who is using his army in order to “kidnap children of a neighboring state.” This newest tweet from Graham is in response to DeSantis’s recent interview with British television host Piers Morgan.

Prior to this interview, DeSantis had taken a relatively soft stance in how he characterized the war between Ukraine and Russia as called it a “territorial dispute.”

It is notable that this tougher stance is now being applauded by Graham who is widely considered to be former President Donald Trump’s closest ally in the Senate. In the interview which was broadcasted on Fox Nation, DeSantis stated that Putin would need to be “held accountable” for their invasion of Ukraine last year. He added that the previous invasion of Crimea in 2014 had also been wrong.

The South Carolina senator had previously blasted DeSantis for his comments about the Russian invasion being a “territorial dispute.” He had also claimed that DeSantis’s stance on the issue followed the Chinese stance as China also considers the war in Ukraine a “territorial dispute.”
