(TargetLiberty.org) – A new Gallup poll released on Friday showed that according to a new poll forty-five percent of Americans were “satisfied” with Social Security and Medicare currently. The two entitlement programs have become central to altercations between the Republicans and Democrats in Congress.
While less than half of Americans hold this belief, the percentage of people satisfied with the two programs is far higher than the satisfaction surrounding other key issues that the two parties are dealing with.
Specifically, around 63 percent of Americans over the age of 65, 43 percent of adults from 50 to 64 years old, and 35 percent of those between 18 and 29 noted that they were satisfied with the current state of the two programs.
The new Gallup shop also showed that the two programs were sixth on the list of the 22 top issues.
According to the poll, 64 percent of Americans were also “satisfied” with the U.S. supporting Ukraine in the war against Russia. The poll also noted that 15 issues that Americans are dealing with, were considered worse than Medicare and Social Security. Most Americans also stated that the two programs were “not a major policy concern.” This raises further questions as if these two programs should be changed at all.
Policymakers have long been trying to figure out what moves they could make to fix Social Security and Medicare. Most Americans were currently able to benefit from the two programs and were happy with how the public attention had allowed them to continue growing these systems.
