(TargetLiberty.org) – Over the weekend, former President Donald Trump had a meeting with Tesla CEO Elon Musk, as he is looking for further funding to inject into his 2024 presidential campaign.
On Tuesday the New York Times reported that on Sunday during a private meeting, there had been three people briefed, they proceeded to speak to the publication on the condition of anonymity. According to the report Trump had met on Sunday with several wealthy Republican donors, including Musk. Trump is also looking at possibly having a one-on-one conversation with the Tesla Inc CEO and owner of X. This has not been confirmed by Trump’s campaign or Musk.
Trump has recently lost some of his own personal fortune as a result of the rulings in the New York civil fraud case against him. He was also forced to pay a significant amount in the defamation case against him.
Musk has not yet revealed whether or not he intends to back Trump’s White House bid, however, in previous posts, Musk has made it clear that he was not a supporter of President Joe Biden, who previously defeated Trump in 2020. Biden is also seeking reelection in November.
Musk, who is one of the richest men in the world with a net worth close to $200 billion has the resources to single-handedly provide enough funding to Trump to overtake Biden and his supporters in the 2024 presidential election. However, he has long attempted to present himself as politically independent, and in previous races he has not spent a lot, often splitting donations evenly between the two parties.
