(TargetLiberty.org) – Michael Cohen has requested a federal judge to dismiss the lawsuit that former President Donald Trump has filed against him over his being a witness in a Manhattan prosecutors’ criminal case against Trump.

Trump sued Cohen, his former longtime personal attorney and fixer for $500 million for various claims including a breach of contract. Cohen’s attorney in his court filing on Monday points out that Trump’s suit “is an abusive act of pure retaliation and witness intimidation” and that the case needed to be dismissed. They further add that Trump’s claims were either too vague, brought up too late, or are not shown to have caused Trump harm.

In his 32-page complaint, Trump accuses Cohen of having breached a confidentiality agreement as well as breaking the attorney-client privilege and relationship they had. It particularly targets Cohen’s book, media appearances, and podcast as being attempts by Cohen to acquire wealth because of his former connection to Trump.

Cohen is also going to be a key witness in Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg’s (D) criminal prosecution of Trump, which resulted in Trump facing 34 felony counts of falsifying business records. The case relates to a hush money payment of $130,000 made by Cohen on Trump’s behalf, to adult films star Stormy Daniels ahead of the 2016 presidential election in exchange for her silence over her alleged affair with the former President. Trump has denied the affair and pleaded not guilty to all charges.
