(TargetLiberty.org) -Former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie (R) has said that he does not know how Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) would perform in the presidential race, as “none of us really know who he is” on the national stage.

During an interview with The Dispatch, a conservative outlet, Christie said that DeSantis had done a “good job” as the governor of Florida, but that did not mean he knew what his performance in the Republican primary would be like.

DeSantis himself has not yet confirmed if he is considering placing a bid on the White House in 2024. However, many have speculated that he is preparing to launch his own presidential campaign. According to recent polls, DeSantis is usually in one of the top two spots in hypothetical GOP primary polls.

Christie had placed his own bid for the White House in 2016 and has said that he is considering placing another bid in 2024.

Former President Donald Trump was the first candidate to launch a presidential campaign in 2024. Currently, he and DeSantis are the two most likely candidates to compete for the GOP presidential nomination as most other possible candidates only have single-digit support. Christie said that he was not worried about how DeSantis would perform or what he chose to do because no one “outside of Tallahassee, Florida” knows him. He concluded that running for the White House and being on the national stage was completely different from being governor.
