(TargetLiberty.org) – On Monday Texas Gov. Greg Abbott announced that a new Texas Tactical Border Force would be created to help stop immigrants from entering the U.S. ahead of the lifting of Title 42.

Title 42 is a public health order that was first implemented under the Trump administration, and has since then been used to expel immigrants who illegally enter the country without the need to follow the asylum procedures.

The Texas National Guard is also preparing for the expiration of the measure by loading Black Hawk helicopters and C-130s and deploying National Guard members to key areas so that they can expel those who are trying to enter the country illegally. According to their statement as of Monday, more than 545 additional service members have been deployed to specific locations in an effort to control the influx of immigrants ahead of the expected expiration of Title 42.

On Monday, the Texas National Guard in a statement noted that the additional forces were going to provide additional assistance to the Texas National Guard service members that are already stationed in the area and have been working to stop both immigrants from entering the country as well as illegal activities such as illegal smuggling of drugs, people and weapons.

During the announcement, Abbott was joined by Texas Border Czar Mike Banks, Texas National Guard Adjunct Gen. Thomas Suelzer, and Texas Department of Public Safety Director Steve McCraw. As he noted, according to the Biden administration it is currently anticipated that around 13,000 people might cross the border illegally daily following the expiration of the border. The new force is going to help existing officials handle this surge in migrants crossing the border.
