(TargetLiberty.org) – On Wednesday, nine Democratic lawmakers dressed in blue in support of the Israeli hostages that have been held by terrorist group Hamas since October 7.

Rep. Frederica Wilson, D-Fla., in a post on X, formerly known as Twitter, noted that she was wearing blue in solidarity with the hostages. She added that it was time for the hostages to be let free and that until they were she would continue to dress in blue every Wednesday so long as the hostages are still in captivity.

The families of those being kept by Hamas also joined the lawmakers in the House calling for the release of the lawmakers ahead of the State of the Union address which is scheduled for Thursday.

In the photo that Wilson shared of her wearing blue, there were several other lawmakers including Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz of Florida, who argued that it was up to Hamas to accept the deal that was currently on the table.

The deal in question reportedly includes a six-week cease-fire and the release of the hostages. As part of the deal, there would be additional humanitarian aid sent into Gaza which has been destroyed to a large extent as a result of the military operations of Israel. According to reports over 30,000 Palestinians in Gaza have lost their lives as a result of the conflict.

The Washington Post in its report has noted that the Israeli government has claimed that there were 253 hostages taken by Hamas. Late last year over 100 of those hostages were released during a weeklong crease fire.
