(TargetLiberty.org) – For the first time in a few weeks, former President Donald Trump received some good news regarding the election fraud case in Georgia after one of his co-defendants announced that he would not be taking the plea deal he was offered.

Last week during an event Reverend Stephen Cliffgard Lee stated that he did not intend to take a plea deal in the Georgia election fraud case brought forward by Fani Willis, the Fulton County District Attorney. In the case, it is alleged that Trump and his co-defendants had been part of a plot to overturn the 2020 presidential election in the state.

During a fundraising event hosted by the Families of Faith Ministries, Lee argued that he would not be in cooperation with “evil” and would not be agreeing to lie in order to get a plea deal.

The criminal case filed against Trump and his 17 co-defendants includes charges over the group having violated the state’s Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations (RICO) Act. Trump has maintained that he has committed no wrongdoing and has pleaded not guilty in this case.

In September his legal team announced that they would not be attempting to have the case moved from state to federal court. As they stated in the filing this decision was made under the belief that the court would protect Trump’s constitutional right to a fair trial.

Several of Trump’s co-defendants in the case including Scott Hall, Sidney Powell, Jenna Ellis and Kenneth Chesebro have already accepted a plea deal in this case.
