(TargetLiberty.org) – The 20-year-old gunman, Thomas Crooks, who had opened fire on former President Donald Trump during his rally in Pennsylvania on Saturday, had been seen pacing next to a warehouse building outside the grounds of the Butler Farm Show where people were gathering for the rally.

Law enforcement had flagged Crooks as suspicious due to his behavior, but he was already on the roof by the time the two officers had gone to check him out. A bystander had yelled at the time that Crooks was carrying a gun.

One of the officers had helped the other get on the roof, however, when he had gotten there he saw the young man with glasses turning towards him with an AR-15-style rifle. The officer had proceeded to get back on the ground according to the statements of the Butler County sheriff.

Crooks had been a computer whiz who would be studying engineering at college. After he saw the officer Crooks had turned his attention back to the former President who was only 400 feet away. He then proceeded to open fire, with one of his bullets grazing President Joe Biden’s ear. The shooting also resulted in the death of an audience member while two others were wounded. The Secret Service’s sniper had proceeded to kill Crooks with counterfire shortly after he opened fire.

A Reuters photographer who was present at the party noted that Crooks had fired his rifle at around 6:10 pm. Trump had grabbed his right ear following the attack as the Secret Service dove on him to protect him. Many of Trump’s supporters who were at the venue also scrambled trying to take cover and find safety.
