(TargetLiberty.org) – On Friday’s “Real Time with Bill Maher,” the comedian Bill Maher mocked the Republican Party and former President Donald Trump after they started bringing religious symbols in their discussions regarding the failed assassination attempt.

Maher pointed out specific examples in which the GOP lawmakers and Trump supporters have been using what he referred to as “magical thinking” by claiming that God had protected the former President when a bullet pierced his ear during his campaign rally in Pennsylvania. He proceeded to claim that the lines were becoming more blurred as Trump’s allies had continued to suggest that it had been God who had helped keep him alive. He added that this was resulting in people starting to perceive Trump as a deity as well.

Maher argued that what he was trying to say is that Trump is “powerful enough” as the former President and possible future president and cult leader, the United States does not need him to also be perceived as a demigod.

The comedian has often spoken up about his opinion that President Biden is going to be losing the presidential election, and that it is only about when and not if Biden is going to drop out. On Sunday President Biden announced that he would not be pursuing reelection.

Maher, who has stated that he is anti-religion in the past, has also critiqued the idea that God sends signals and argued that if God had something to say he should just say it. These remarks from Maher came only days after a 20-year-old gunman opened fire at a Trump rally while perched on a nearby rooftop.
