(TargetLiberty.org) – According to two insiders, former President Donald Trump’s campaign has kickstarted the vetting process for Vice President candidates.

In recent weeks, Trump’s campaign has started sending top contenders for running mate vetting paperwork. This list, according to one person with knowledge of the effort, includes Governor of North Dakota Doug Burgum, South Carolina Senator Tim Scott, Ohio Senator J.D. Vance, and Florida Senator Marco Rubio.

Trump’s 2016 rival — turned member of cabinet — Ben Carson, Rep. Elise Stefanik (New York), and Rep. Byron Donalds (Florida) are also reportedly on the list.

According to the second insider, selected candidates have exchanged various levels of paperwork with the Trump campaign.

However, none of the candidates or their representatives have spoken about being in the process despite requests for public comment.

Trump aides have noted that the list is fluid and constantly evolving, with the final decision being reached by the former President.

The news comes nearly a week after the former President was found guilty by a jury of 12 New Yorkers in his falsifying business records trial. His sentencing is set for July 11, four days before the Republican National Convention will start.

The former President has indicated he isn’t in a rush to announce his running mate and could wait until July when the Republican National Convention starts to unveil who will be on the GOP ticket beside him.

On Tuesday evening, in an appearance on NewsMax, Trump indicated that Rubio, Scott, Vance, Burgum, and Carson were among those he was considering.
