(TargetLiberty.org) – On Wednesday, Eric Holder, the former Attorney General, stated that he is worried that the Supreme Court is going to reach a “dangerous” decision when it comes to granting presidential immunity to former President Donald Trump.

Trump has previously argued that presidential immunity protects him from all the actions that he took while he was in office. This could affect the charges he is facing in connection to the mishandling of classified documents after he left office, which were recovered from his Florida home in Mar-a-Lago, as well as the election interference charges that are connected to the 2020 election and the Jan. 6, 2021, Capitol attack.

The Supreme Court is expected to make a decision on this by the end of the month.

During an MSNBC “Deadline: White House” interview with host Nicolle Wallace, the Obama administration’s former attorney general pointed out that some justices could argue that if Trump is in office he is allowed to be in violation of criminal law so long as he had done so in his official capacity.

Holder noted that this is the notion that some justices are considering and arguing that they could say that it was alright so long as the president had violated criminal law in his official role.

He added that such a conclusion would not only be “absurd” but also “dangerous” and that he was concerned especially considering how much time the Supreme Court has spent on making a decision on this case. He noted that the Supreme Court should decide that the president should be held to the same laws as all other Americans.
