(TargetLiberty.org) – Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) argued that during Saturday’s assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump “God’s hand” had been on him.

On Monday during a speech at the Republican National Convention, Greene argued that this was a time of celebration as Trump was officially receiving the presidential nomination. However, she also pointed out that this is a “somber” time for the country considering the recent attack.

Greene pointed out that only two days earlier there had been evil directed towards Trump, who is someone they admire and love. She continued by thanking God for his protection and for keeping the former President safe. Her remarks were met with applause from those in attendance.

The shooter on Saturday was identified by authorities and the FBI as 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks, who had shot at Trump perched from a nearby rooftop during a rally in Butler, Pa. The shots had grazed Trump’s ear while also killing one attendee and critically injuring two others.

Greene expressed her prayers for the victim Corey Comperatore’s family as well as for the two people who had been injured. As she argued Comperatore was the embodiment of the America First movement as he had sacrificed himself in order to protect his family from the bullets. As she argued this was a reminder that Americans needed to do “whatever it takes” in order to defend the country and its people. She noted that they would be honoring his memory by building the country that he had wanted to see for his children with a government that is worthy of the American people.
