(TargetLiberty.org) – On Tuesday, former House Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) opposed the criticisms about Vice President Harris being a diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) hire and argued that these attacks are “stupid.”
In an appearance on NBC News’s “Meet the Press NOW,” McCarthy noted that he has heard two attacks from Republicans that he considers to be “stupid” one of which has to do with the DEI initiatives. He proceeded to say that the second attack that he does not consider smart is the one that is calling for President Joe Biden to resign, arguing that if Biden resigns then that would just be to the advantage of Kamala Harris.
Following Sunday’s announcement by President Joe Biden that he is not going to be seeking reelection, Harris emerged as the most likely replacement for the President at the top of the Democratic ticket. Biden has already endorsed Harris in the presidential race.
If Harris manages to become the Democratic nominee and be elected in November then she could end up making history as both the first person of South Asian descent and the first woman to be elected to the country’s highest office.
After launching her presidential campaign, Harris quickly was endorsed as the next Democratic candidate by many local officials, governors, and lawmakers.
McCarthy pointed out that the DEI comments appear to be “petty” and while he disagrees with these initiatives in general, Harris is the current vice president and a former U.S. Senator. He noted that this is why it is wrong for these congressmen to be making such claims.
