(TargetLiberty.org) – Jen Psaki, the former White House press secretary argued that the RNC needed to adjust the programming of the convention following the assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump’s life so as to ‘restore civility.’
Former White House press secretary Jen Psaki pushed for the Republican National Committee to make changes to its entire programming for the convention arguing that this would help them avoid any escalation to the rhetoric that has emerged after the failed assassination attempt.
On Sunday, during an appearance on “Meet the Press,” Psaki expressed how following the assassination attempt she had felt “scared.” Other panelists on the show similarly echoed her concerns relating to the increasingly more divisive political rhetoric.
Psaki argued that as the Republican National Convention is set to start on Monday, the party should look into adjusting the programming and the planned speakers to restore a level of civility and bring down the heat. She added that while the Democratic calls to have Biden withdraw from the 2024 presidential race have been “paused” there is a possibility that these types of conversations are going to start back up again.
Psaki pointed out that unless there are changes to the programming then there would not be any civility being restored, and instead the situation could potentially escalate. She added that this would not be the “civil approach” to holding a convention.
The RNC is where Trump will officially become the GOP nominee for November, and as of right now has not been postponed because of the attempt on Trump’s life.
On Sunday morning, in a post on his social media platform Truth Social, Trump argued that he loves the United States and its people and he was looking forward to talking to Americans from Wisconsin this week.
