(TargetLiberty.org) – According to a recent poll, former President Donald Trump only leads Vice President Kamala Harris by one point.

According to the Marist/NPR/PBS poll released Tuesday, Trump received 46 percent support nationally, while Harris received 45 percent. Nine percent of respondents were undecided. When third-party candidates were included, Trump and Harris tied. The survey polled 1,300 adults on Monday.

Director for Marist polling, Lee Miringoff, noted that “looking at the top line… the contest for president all looks very similar” despite what had transpired in the last month, including President Joe Biden dropping out of the race.

However, he noted that analyzing the numbers in greater detail “tells a different story,” elaborating that “more voters are undecided,” and could be “rethinking their choice.”

Twenty-one percent of independent voters are undecided, 32 percent have decided to back Harris, 14 points less than the 46 percent who support Trump.

Harris will likely emerge as the Democratic Party’s nominee for president after most of the party’s delegates pledged to her on Monday.

The Vice President also received a record-breaking figure for the launch of her presidential campaign, hailing in over $80 million in 24 hours.

An overwhelming majority — almost 90 percent — of participants agreed that Biden made the right decision to exit the race.

Forty-one percent of all respondents shared they believe his exit helps the party, while 65 percent of Democrats echoed those statements.

The change in the Democratic ticket also seemed to influence voter turnout, as more than one-third of respondents indicated they were more inclined to vote, while only 6 percent suggested they were less inclined.

The last Marist poll released on July 12 showed Biden leading Trump by two points.
