Young Girl Sole Survivor in Fatal Plane Crash

(TargetLiberty.org) – A plane crash on Lake Michigan has left four people dead, and an 11-year-old girl as the only survivor.

On November 13, a twin-engine commuter plane with five people on board crashed on Beaver Island, MI. The pilot and three of the four passengers died in the impact; however, Laney Perdue, who was traveling with her father, survived with serious injuries. She’s now in a Grand Rapids, MI hospital, where doctors say her condition is “fair.”

Laney has spoken to her mother, Christina, about her ordeal. Christina says her daughter’s last memory before the crash is her father Mike grabbing her and shielding her with his own body; she believes that’s the only reason Laney survived.

The other two passengers were Adam Kendall and Kate Leese, who had recently bought a home on Beaver Island and planned to open a winery there. A friend described the couple as “inspirational.”

The Federal Aviation Administration and National Transportation Safety Board are investigating the crash. The aircraft was a Britten-Norman BN-2 Islander, a model that has been in production for over 50 years with an excellent safety record — with nearly 1,300 built, this is only the sixth recorded crash.
