A new Gallup poll shows that many young adults view socialism and capitalism as equally good economic and political systems.
Since 2010, young adults' positive ratings of socialism have hovered near 50%, while the rate has been consistently near 34% for Gen Xers and near 30% for baby boomers/traditionalists. https://t.co/ZwzDMN7RAz pic.twitter.com/3GCGYV1l6j

For the past 10 years, about 50% of young adults have said they view socialism in a positive light, compared to 34% of Gen Xers and 30% of baby boomers. Up until 2018, more millennials preferred capitalism. That has changed with the numbers dropping from 66% supporting capitalism in 2010 to only 51% preferring it in 2019.
The one thing that all three age groups agreed on was their love for free enterprise. More than 80% of all millennials, Gen Xers and baby boomers said they have a positive view of it.
It’s no surprise that the younger generations have fallen in love with the idea of socialism. Politicians like Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) and Bernie Sanders are constantly talking about how great their system is and how much better the US would be if it adopted socialism. Older generations have been around long enough to see how poorly socialism has performed all across the world.
What makes people like AOC and Bernie think that socialism will work this time?
