Woman Saved By Cat After Dangerous Fall

Woman Saved By Cat After Dangerous Fall

(TargetLiberty.org) – Cat owners often praise their pets’ intelligence, their self-reliance, even their prowess as hunters – but they rarely talk about how they can help us. There’s a good reason for that. People breed dogs to do many jobs, but in most cases, the only things cats are really interested in are eating, sleeping and hunting. They don’t bother helping us; it’s our job to help them.

One British cat seems to be the exception to that rule. On August 14, an 83-year-old woman in Cornwall, at the southwest tip of England, was out for a walk on a farm near her home when she slipped and fell down a steep embankment. She came to a stop 70 feet down the slope, on uneven ground and concealed by trees. It would almost certainly have ended in tragedy if one of her neighbors hadn’t seen the woman’s black cat, Piran, sitting in the corner of a field meowing loudly. After checking it out, the neighbor spotted the elderly woman lying at the bottom of the embankment.

Firefighters, paramedics and the Cornwall Air Ambulance rushed to the scene and rescued the woman, who’s now recovering in hospital. No doubt Piran is waiting impatiently for her to come home and open his dinner.
