(TargetLiberty.org) – In an interview with Politico, Fox News moderators Martha MacCallum and Bret Baier revealed that in their preparations for the first Republican primary debate, they were preparing for two different scenarios depending on whether or not former President Donald Trump, who is the frontrunner of the race, chooses to attend or not.
Baier claimed that even if Trump is not physically present there will still be questions about him as well as questions that point out certain of the claims and statements made by the leader of the Republic primary. He added that the topics in the debate are not going to vary greatly based on whether or not Trump is going to be part of the race, however, the interactions between certain candidates could be affected by Trump’s presence.
Previously Trump stated that he was going to be announcing whether or not he would participate in the Republican National Committee’s (RNC) debate in Milwaukee this week. For months he had claimed that there was no reason for him to attend the first debate and he had stated that because of his vast lead in the primary polls, he did not need to engage with other candidates in the debate.
Trump has also refused to abide by the RNC’s requirement for all participants to sign a pledge that they would support whichever candidate is selected from the Republican primary. The primary debate is going to be attended by the candidates who have qualified under the polling and fundraising requirements set by the RNC.
