(TargetLiberty.org) – Former President Donald Trump’s indictment on Tuesday has once again placed Trump’s and his former Vice President Mike Pence’s relationship at the forefront.

Trump was indicted in connection to his attempts to overturn the 2020 presidential election results. In the 45-page indictment, prosecutors state that Trump had repeatedly claimed that the election had been stolen from him despite knowing that was not the case. Pence is also one of the central figures included in the indictment.

Trump’s unfounded allegations of election fraud also led to the Jan. 6, 2021, Capitol attack, as a mob of his supporters had entered the building in an attempt to block the election certification. The mob could be heard calling for Pence to be hanged as they entered the building. As part of the indictment, the notes that Pence took during his meetings with Trump during which Trump had claimed that there was voter fraud in the 2020 presidential election were also revealed.

This recent indictment is likely going to lead to Pence facing additional questions from Trump supporters who have actively been asking him why he did not try to ensure that Trump stays in the White House past the elections. Pence has repeatedly said that the Vice President does not have the power to overturn the election results despite the claims being made by Trump.

Many Republicans have stated that Pence took the right actions on that day. One former Trump campaign official even argued that there was nothing bad that could be said about Pence’s character despite what some Trump loyalists say regarding his actions on Jan. 6.
