(TargetLiberty.org) – First up in the weekend news is an unexpected and unofficial endorsement between two DNC presidential rivals.
Did Biden “Endorse” Bernie?
With Joe Biden losing momentum fast, both in Iowa and New Hampshire, many are losing confidence that he could win the presidential nomination. In fact, Sen. Bernie Sanders (D-VT) of all candidates has seen a huge upswing in support ever since the catastrophe that was the Iowa caucus. Perhaps no two DNC candidates could be further apart in their ideology and policies.
That’s what makes Biden’s unofficial endorsement of Sanders so remarkable. Accord to Biden, “I’m going to work like hell for him” if Sanders gets the nomination.
While Biden didn’t have a change of heart to become a Democratic Socialist overnight, he does rightfully believe that Trump is a formidable opponent. The fact that Trump will use everything in the book to attack Bernie, especially his label as a socialist, worries Biden. The former vice president also has a substantial amount of support among African-American voters, which Sanders would need to hope to stand a chance against the president.
Suspect of Multiple Shootouts Arrested in NYC
There were a handful of shootouts with cops in New York City this weekend believed to have been instigated by the same person. The first occurred Saturday night when two officers were attacked in their patrol van. Bullets grazed their face and neck and thankfully none of them suffered any severe injuries.
Then, on Sunday morning, another shootout took place in a store where an officer was shot in his arm before taking cover. The criminal quickly slid his gun across the floor towards the officers after realizing that he stood no chance. The officer shot in the arm was not gravely injured and should make a full recovery.
The suspect was quickly arrested and, according to a public statement, investigations have now begun.

US / Afghan Shootout Leaves Two US Troops Dead
During a recent firefight with Afghan forces, two American soldiers were killed with another six wounded.
The deadly incident occurred during a joint operation on Saturday. Reports of “an individual in an Afghan uniform opened fire on the combined U.S. and Afghan force with a machine gun” according to Col. Sonny Leggett, US military spokesman.
Investigations are currently underway and it’s unclear as to exactly why this event happened.
The two casualties from this terrible incident were from the Seventh Special Forces Group. They were Staff Sgt. Javier J. Gutierrez of San Antonio, and Staff Sgt. Antonio R. Rodriguez of Las Cruces. Both were 28 years old.
Please join us in praying for the well-being of the friends and families of those affected by this event.
