(TargetLiberty.org) – On Monday, NFL legend Troy Aikman slammed inauthentic beer brands who use the American flag ahead of the Fourth of July holidays to promote their beers while their headquarters are not in the U.S.
Aikman, the owner of Eight Elite Light Lager, posted a video on Twitter in which he was criticizing all of those brands. His own brand, Eight Elite Light Lager, is based in Texas, and parts of their revenues are donated to charity organizations.
In the clip, he states that he is proud to be celebrating the “birth” of the United States this weekend and that he was looking forward to celebrating with friends, food, and beer. He proceeded to state that his brand believes “in truth and authenticity” which is why they are based in Texas and they brew their beer in the U.S.
He continued on to say that multiple beer brands are attempting to cash in on the holiday by adding an American flag to their product packaging regardless of whether or not they are American. He then encouraged people to promote and support Eight or other American-owned beer companies on the Fourth of July weekend.
Two-thirds of light beers consumed are not American owned. This includes Bud Light, Michelob Ultra or Michelob Ultra Pure Gold, Corona Premier or Light, Natural Light, Busch Light, and Tecate Light. This is the second time that the NFL star has promoted his Eight Elite Lager beer, the first time being in May when Bud Light came under fire and was boycotted following an incident in the U.S.
