(TargetLiberty.org) – A new video of Gen Z for Change executive director Elise Joshi confronting White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre had gone viral on Twitter receiving more than 4 million views since its posting.
On Thursday while Jean-Pierre was delivering her remarks at the Voters of Tomorrow summit, Joshi interrupted Jean-Pierre while adding that “asking nicely” had not been effective. She then proceeded to blast the Biden administration over their climate policy adding that millions of young people had written to the administration asking them to not approve the Alaska oil-drilling project but their wishes were completely ignored.
She then proceeded to ask whether the administration was planning on no longer providing their approval for gas and oil projects and aligning with what scientific, youth, and frontline communities in the area were asking. Many of the audience members started snapping in support of this statement, while an organizer asked Joshi to sit back down.
Jean-Pierre in response stated that she appreciated the 21-year-old’s courage to speak up and then pointed out that President Joe Biden has taken many actions on climate change and that he will continue to take action on this. She added that she would be willing to further discuss this with Joshi outside the speaking event and that they would also be interested in hearing what she has to say, so long as she also listens to them.
Joshi is known for her social media presence and she was the leader of the #StopWillow movement on TikTok which was opposing the ConocoPhillips Willow Project in Alaska.
