(TargetLiberty.org) – President Biden recently visited Hawaii following the devastating wildfires that destroyed large parts of Maui. Following a press conference Democratic Hawaii Sen. Brian Schatz tried to offer President Biden some water, however, the exchange which was picked up by a microphone turned awkward as Biden did not respond but rather walked away.

On Monday, during the press conference following the wildfires which led to 114 people losing their lives, while hundreds of others are missing, Schatz picked up the podium microphone and proceeded to offer Biden some water. However, the U.S. president did not appear to hear him and instead chose to walk away. The reasoning behind his lack of a response has not yet been made clear.

Biden’s visit to Hawaii was criticized by people on both parties as many have commented on his general silence when it came to the fire and the effects it has had on Hawaii and its residents.

While the wildfires were ongoing and the death toll in Hawaii was climbing, Biden was on vacation on Delaware Beach. At the time when reporters had asked him about the devastation in Hawaii, he had stated that he had “no comment.” The remark was largely viewed as dismissive especially considering the devastation that the Hawaiians were experiencing.

On Sunday, the number of deaths was confirmed by both the Maui Police Department and Maui County. However, it is likely that that number is going to continue to rise as investigators continue to search the areas affected by the wildfires.
