(TargetLiberty.org) – On Sunday, President Joe Biden’s top national security adviser stated that the White House had not seen any evidence yet that China had provided Russia with any lethal assistance in their war against Ukraine. He further warned Beijing that if Beijing chose to do that it would be against their country’s interests.

White House national security adviser Jake Sullivan during his appearance on NBC News’ “Meet the Press” also stated that they would continue to be watching China to see if they provide assistance to Russia, but that so far they have not seen that happen, and that it would not be in China’s interest to assist Russia with lethal equipment.

The U.S. has previously reported that they believed China was considering providing artillery and ammunition to Russia. However, Sullivan has argued that this move would alienate China from many countries around the world, including countries in Europe, especially as they would indirectly have assisted in the war crimes that Russia was committing during the war. He added that the weapons provided would essentially be “used for the slaughter of people in Ukraine.”

However, he concluded this was a decision Beijing would need to make on its own.

In an exclusive NBC News report this month, four U.S. officials also stated that the administration was worried that China was considering providing Russia with lethal assistance.

The relationship between Washington and Beijing is currently tense after the U.S. shot down a suspected spy balloon, which China had maintained was a civilian balloon that had drifted off course.
