US Government May Have To Ban TikTok for Real

(TargetLiberty.org) – TikTok is one of the most popular social media apps in the world, including in the US. Millions of users share and watch videos on it each day. However, federal officials are very concerned about the amount of data the Chinese have access to through the popular platform.

On November 1, Axios published an interview with FCC Commissioner Brendan Carr. In June, he sent letters to Google and Apple asking the companies to remove TikTok from their app stores. Months later, he still believes it should happen.

Carr said he doesn’t believe the government has any other path forward except a complete ban on the app. He pointed out that Chinese or other state actors could use the platform to try to influence political processes in America, similar to the complaints about the Russians during the 2016 and 2020 presidential elections.

In June, a bombshell Buzzfeed News report revealed American user data had repeatedly been accessed inside of China. The organization was able to gain access to more than 80 internal meetings within the company. The Left-leaning organization pointed out that is exactly the kind of thing former President Donald Trump wanted to prevent.

Do you think TikTok should be banned in the US?
