(TargetLiberty.org) On Friday, Mary Trump, a political analyst and niece of former President Donald Trump, suggested that Nikki Haley may have a “back room deal” with Trump regarding her presidential campaign. Haley first started her political journey serving as a state congresswoman representing South Carolina’s 87th Congressional District from 2005 to 2011. She then served as the state’s governor for two terms, before being called to serve as the U.S. ambassador to the United Nations under Trump’s administration.

On Tuesday she became the first major Republican to challenge former President Trump for the GOP nomination. Trump is currently leading the polls against Haley, which means that she has a tough road in front of her if she wants to be successful.

Trump has been dominating more of the polls of likely Republican voters for the 2024 GOP nomination. Still, following the underwhelming results of the 2022 midterm election, Trump’s success rates did drop slightly, as it was suggested that Trump’s support led to the GOP losing in many competitive races.

A recent Remington Research Group poll also revealed that 38 percent of likely voters were going to support Trump, while 35 percent would choose Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, who has not yet launched a presidential campaign. Only around 8 percent of likely Republicans opted to support Haley in the hypothetical match-up.

In a recent live stream on The Mary Trump Show, the former president’s niece wondered about Haley’s motivation to place a bid on the White House, especially as she has so far refused to differentiate herself from Trump. Jen Taub, a guest on the show, speculated that Haley might be aiming to become Trump’s 2024 vice presidential nominee, which Mary Trump agreed with.
