(TargetLiberty.org) – Former President Trump may be close to facing more legal troubles and a potential indictment over the hush money payment that he made to an adult film star during his 2016 presidential campaign. This case could potentially hurt his 2024 GOP presidential primary campaign.
During a recent interview, Trump specifically stated that he did not intend to stop his campaign even if he does get indicted. In a recent Truth Social Post on Thursday, he further reiterated that he continued to be undeterred by the potential criminal charges that he might face.
However, despite his comments, a potential indictment in New York could end up bringing trouble to Trump, especially as many Republican voters and leaders have been pushing for the party to move forward and select a candidate that does not come with as much baggage.
On Thursday, the New York Times reported that the Manhattan district attorney’s office has now called Trump’s lawyer to testify before a grand jury in the case. Depending on the strength of the testimony, Trump could end up facing criminal charges over the payment made to adult film star Stormy Daniels in exchange for her silence in relation to their alleged affair during the 2016 campaign.
While there would be no guarantee of conviction if district attorney Alvin Bragg decides to charge Trump, that could end up being a big step against him. Trump has denied having an affair with Daniels in the past and has claimed that the investigation is politically motivated.
