(TargetLiberty.org) – Congressional Democrats might be using the coronavirus pandemic as an excuse to demand a huge expansion of government, but President Trump hasn’t forgotten that it’s the American people who need help. On Sunday, he called on Congress to clear the roadblocks to a new relief package and get stimulus checks out to US workers and families – now.
Talking to Brian Kilmeade of Fox News on December 13, the president said he wants to see larger checks than the ones Congress is talking about – he’s previously said he’d support payments of up to $2,000 per person – and he wants them sent out before the end of the year.
President @realDonaldTrump says today he wants direct assistance for working people in #COVID19 relief bill. I’ve introduced an amendment w/ @SenSanders to do it. Let’s get this done https://t.co/o9ZS1u11sS

Congress has been trying – and failing – to pass another relief bill since April, but has been blocked by Democrat attempts to bolt-on trillions in extra spending. Right now Dem leaders Nancy Pelosi (R-CA) and Senator Chuck Schumer (D-NY) are pushing a deal that doesn’t include stimulus checks; Senators Bernie Sanders (D-VT) and Josh Hawley (R-MO) are fighting to get the checks sent out, and President Trump is backing them.
