(TargetLiberty.org) – Former President Trump took to Truth Social to slam the U.S. women’s soccer team following their recent loss in the 16th round of the Women’s World Cup.
He argued that the loss of the “woke” team was a clear example of what is happening to the U.S. under Joe Biden. He argued that many of the U.S. players have openly opposed their own country and that there is no other country in which such behavior occurs. He proceeded to argue that “Woke Equals Failure” and argued that the U.S. was headed to hell.
Trump also commented about midfielder Megan Rapinoe, 38. Rapinoe had previously stated during the 2019 Women’s World Cup that she would not be attending the White House even if their team won. She further claimed that they were not even going to be invited even if they did win.
Trump, who had at the time been the sitting president, had argued that Rapinoe should not be disrespectful to the country and that she should proudly carry the U.S. flag. At the time he had posted on Twitter that he was also a fan of the U.S. women’s soccer team but that Rapinoe needed to more carefully consider what she was saying before saying it.
On Sunday, Rapinoe missed the target during the 5-4 penalty shootout. Two more U.S. players also missed the shots which led to Sweden winning the match.
In 2022, President Biden awarded Rapinoe the Presidential Medal of Freedom. She is the first soccer player to receive this high honor.
