(TargetLiberty.org) – Former President Donald Trump in a recent Truth Social post stated that no “true Trump” supporter would vote for Florida governor Ron DeSantis in the 2024 GOP primary.

While DeSantis has not yet announced that he will be participating in the 2024 presidential election, this message from his potential opponent from the GOP nomination shows that DeSantis might have a hard time winning the support of Trump supporters.

At the same time, Arizona Republican Kari Lake who is a big Trump supporter and had even received his endorsement in the gubernatorial election, which she lost, in her state last November, stated that DeSantis would be better off waiting until 2028 if he wanted to continue having a “political future.” In a different interview, Lake had noted that if DeSantis wanted to have a big political career, then he needed to carefully consider what he would do now. Lake is believed to be one of Trump’s potential options for a running mate in 2024.

Current polls show that DeSantis is coming second in all of the recent polls about a hypothetical 2024 GOP primary.

Lake is not the first Trump supporter to warn DeSantis to stay away from the GOP primary in 2024. On April 27, John Rich, a country singer, posted on Truth Social that DeSantis should not try to run against Trump. He continued to say that even if DeSantis did end up running and somehow won, not “one true Trump supporter” would vote for him in the general election.

Trump was quick to praise Rich for his post and say that he is a “very smart guy.”
