(TargetLiberty.org) – On Friday, former President Trump took to his social media platform, Truth Social to slam the 49-page indictment which detailed everything about the federal case being brought against him over his alleged mishandling of classified documents after leaving the White House in 2021.
Trump made a number of posts on Social Media in which he attacked special counsel Jack Smith, who was assigned to oversee Trump’s case in November, for the difference in the way his case and President Biden’s case were being handled. It is important to note that Smith was only responsible for the cases regarding Trump and that a different special counsel has been assigned to handle the case relating to the classified documents found in Biden’s home and former office.
There are many differences between Biden’s and Trump’s case, the most notable of which is that Biden’s aides immediately informed the Justice Department about the classified documents that had been found in his possession. Trump on the other hand ignored a subpoena that had requested the documents to be handed over.
Trump proceeded to argue in his posts that he had committed no wrongdoings or crime and that the only crime being committed revolved around the Department of Justice and the FBI prosecuting him and targeting him for years.
The 37-count indictment includes 31 counts under the Espionage Act, while the rest of the counts have to do with obstruction of justice and other such charges. In the filing, it is specifically stated that Trump had attempted to block the return of the documents by having his attorneys either “hide or destroy” them after the June subpoena was sent to him.
