( – Sen. Tom Cotton, R-Ark., has officially endorsed former President Donald Trump in the 2024 Republican primary race. In a statement to Fox News Digital, he stated that he was looking forward to collaborating with Trump in order to help him win back the White House and help restore the country.

In his statement to Fox News Digital, Cotton argued that under Trump the United States was safe and strong, but that with Joe Biden as President, the country was being destroyed. As he pointed out there were many families in the United States that were not able to afford their groceries, there were wars across the world, and the U.S. border was being invaded.

Cotton pointed out that he was endorsing Trump and that he looked forward to working with him to help the people of Arkansas recover from the policies of President Biden. He added that it was time to get the United States to be “back on track.”

Cotton and Trump had previously collaborated in securing the U.S. border and on the country’s immigration policy during Trump’s first term in office.

Trump had in 2017 backed the legislation that Cotton and then-Sen. David Perdue had pushed forward which would design a merit-based system that would completely transform the legal immigration system in the United States. The new system would also bring down the number of green cards issued per year from 1 million to 500,000. The Reforming American Immigration for a Strong Economy (RAISE) Act would prioritize those workers who had skills that were desired in the United States so as to protect American workers.
