(TargetLiberty.org) – Former President Trump has agreed to participate in a town hall event with CNN. Trump has frequently slammed the network over their coverage of his presidency.

The town hall is scheduled to take place at Saint Anselm College in New Hampshire next week. This is a clear example of the hard-hitting media approach that Trump’s campaign team is adopting ahead of the 2024 GOP primary.

While Trump had for a long time criticized mainstream media, in recent weeks he and his staff had turned their direction and have arranged for him to have a number of sit-down interviews with many large outlets including NBC. Trump has also invited many mainstream media outlet reporters to fly with him on his private plane as he travels to different campaign events.

Trump’s campaign team believes that this move towards more accessibility to the general media could help Trump’s message spread further. It would also mark a clear difference with Florida Governor DeSantis, who is speculated to be considering placing a presidential bid in 2024. DeSantis is known for only giving a few interviews and only to conservative media.

The Town Hall with CNN is also considered by some to be an indirect attack by the President on Fox News. Rump has frequently alleged that the conservative outlet has turned against him and that they are instead promoting and supporting DeSantis.

Only a week before the town hall was announced, the Republican National Committee had noted that Fox would host the first debate. However, Trump had taken to Truth Social to state that he did not see why he needed to participate in the debate which had been organized without his approval.
