(TargetLiberty.org) – A new Rasmussen Reports survey has found that former President Donald Trump has a 28-point lead over Florida Governor DeSantis in the 2024 GOP primary race.

According to the poll, Trump has the support of 58 percent of Republican voters, while DeSantis has the support of only 30 percent in a race that is a one-to-one face-off. Despite the fact that the two have such a vast difference, 70 percent of Republican voters still view DeSantis favorably, and 37 percent have a “very favorable” opinion of the Florida governor.

When it comes to all likely voters, 49 percent view DeSantis favorably, out of whom 25 view him very favorably. Forty-two view him unfavorably with 27 percent of those having a very unfavorable view of him.

In terms of a general election match-up between the Florida governor and President Joe Biden, likely voters gave each of the candidates 44 percent support respectively. Among Democrats, Biden received 75 percent, while DeSantis received 73 percent among Republicans. Unaffiliated voters appear to prefer DeSantis with 46 percent while 38 percent would support Biden.

In terms of the different demographics, Biden has more support from women with 43-42 percent, while DeSantis has more support from men with 46-44 percent.

DeSantis also gets 51 percent of White voters, 19 percent of Black voters, and 36 percent of other minorities. Biden on the other hand has the support of 40 percent of white voters, 65 percent of black voters, and 44 percent of other minorities.
