(TargetLiberty.org) – U.S. District Judge Royce Lamberth has claimed that despite previously having faced threats from Drug cartels, criminals, and even al Qaeda nothing compared to the harassment he is facing after the hearings into former President Donald Trump’s related cases started. The cases in question relate to Trump’s involvement in the 2021 Capitol attack and his attempts to overturn the 2020 presidential election.
Right-wing websites claimed that Lamberth, who was an appointee of Ronald Reagan, belonged to the “deep state” conspiracy that was aiming to harm Trump and his followers. Other Trump-friendly websites have included calls to have the judge executed, with one post stating that “Traitors get ropes.” This post came after he had issued a prison sentence for a woman, 69, who had pleaded guilty over her involvement in the Capitol riot.
Apart from online posts, there have also been phone calls, with one man having found the number of the judge’s home phone and having repeatedly called him to vow that he would murder him.
In an interview with Reuters, Lamberth claimed that he could not believe the number of death threats that he got.
Ahead of the 2024 presidential election, Trump faces a number of lawsuits and indictments. Those supporting the former President have been involved in a campaign of intimidation and threats against all court officials, prosecutors, and judges who are involved in the court cases against Trump. Trump is facing a total of four criminal cases with a total number of 91 felonies. Over the past year, Trump has repeatedly attacked prosecutors and those involved in the judicial system claiming that the system was biased against him.
