(TargetLiberty.org) – On Saturday, former President Trump expressed his concerns regarding the potential successor to Russian President Putin, suggesting that the new leader could be even worse. Trump shared his views on the situation in Russia, characterizing it as a state of chaos. His remarks were prompted by the ongoing events involving the Wagner private Russian military force, which appeared to be attempting to overthrow Putin’s leadership following the protracted conflict with Ukraine. However, the paramilitary fighters later announced that they would halt their advance to prevent further conflict.

Trump took to his social media platform, Truth Social, to caution against desiring a change in leadership without carefully considering the potential consequences. He emphasized the possibility that the next leader could pose significantly greater challenges. As the Wagner army made its way towards Moscow, the Russian government implemented security measures, including establishing private checkpoints and deploying armored vehicles. This display of internal division within the country’s leadership garnered international attention.

Yevgeny Prigozhin, the commander of the Wagner group, criticized the military’s approach to the war with Ukraine, asserting that they had chosen the wrong course of action. He claimed to have 25,000 troops under his command and revealed that his forces had advanced 60 miles into Russia, seizing control of the city of Rostov-on-Don. Notably, Rostov-on-Don holds strategic significance as it serves as a base for Russian military operations in the Ukrainian conflict. Prigozhin insisted that their actions were not intended to stage a military coup but rather represented a “march of justice.”
