(TargetLiberty.org) – Former President Donald Trump stated in a recent Truth Social Post that much like former president Ronald Reagan, he would also be skipping the first Republican presidential primary debate.
As he pointed out in the post he did not have a reason to appear in the debate which is scheduled to take place on August 23 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, as he is holding a very strong lead against all other candidates in the presidential race.
Trump pointed out that Reagan had not attended the Republican primary debate in 1980, which was the first televised debate. At the time Reagan had been the frontrunner in the presidential race and he did not believe there was a point in him attending the debate.
In his post, Trump also noted that he had been asked by many people if he would be joining the debates. He further pointed out that all Americans wanted to see a highly intelligent President and that all of them are aware of how great his numbers in the polls are. As he pointed out he was leading the primary race by over 50 points.
People were also aware of his record, which he claimed is one of the best presidential records, which is why he does not need to debate as he is the person who can help “Make America Great Again.”
During an interview on August 9, Newsmax host Eric Bolling asked Trump whether or not he would attend the debate. In response, Trump claimed that he was going to announce his decision regarding the debate next week.
