(TargetLiberty.org) – On Wednesday, Letitia James, the Democratic Attorney General of New York filed court documents claiming that former President Donald Trump had inflated his net worth by $2.2 billion. The filing is part of the lawsuit filed against the Trump Organization, the former President, and two of his adult children in which she is claiming that the Trump family has been involved with fraud for over a decade.
The Trump’s organization executive vice presidents Eric Trump and Donald Trump Jr. are both part of the lawsuit, while Ivanka Trump who was previously included in this lawsuit had her case dismissed by a state appeals judge.
The new numbers were added to the filing in which James pushed for the judge to partially rule against the former President ahead of the trial which is set for Oct. 2. According to her allegations Trump had been inflating his net worth by millions of dollars each year from 2011 to 2021. According to the filing in 2014, James alleged that Trump had inflated his net worth by $2.225 billion.
She further pointed out in the filing that this was just the tip of the iceberg and that during the trial they were going to expose a lot more evidence. She added that the Court has thus far been given enough evidence to consider that each of the financial statements “from 2011 to 2021 was false or misleading.”
The lawsuit specifically accuses Trump’s company of having inflated the value of assets to gain access to better investment opportunities while deflating them to lower the company’s taxes.
