(TargetLiberty.org) – President Trump has hit back at a Liberal newspaper’s claims that he only paid $750 a year in federal income taxes in 2016 and 2017. The New York Times says it has Trump’s tax returns going back beyond the turn of the century; Trump says their story is “totally fake.”
The paper’s executive editor, Dean Baquet, claims the report was put together by a group of journalists who had examined the president’s tax records – but it’s refusing to show those records to anyone. The NYT says it’s protecting its sources. Trump Organization lawyer, Alan Garten, says it’s hiding the fact that its claims are “riddled with gross inaccuracies,” while Conservative news outlets dismissed it as recycled old stories.

According to Garten, Trump paid “tens of millions of dollars” in personal federal taxes over the last ten years, including millions since he announced his White House run in 2015. If the NYT really has evidence that he didn’t, all it has to do is release the documents it claims to have.
Will they? It doesn’t seem likely; their own report admits that he paid an average of $1.4 million a year in federal taxes from 2000 to 2017. How many of his critics have paid that much?
