( – On Thursday both former President Donald Trump and President Joe Biden are set to visit the U.S.-Mexico border. This further showcases the important role that immigration is expected to play in the upcoming 2024 presidential election.

Biden is set to visit Brownsville in Texas where he is going to be pushing for Congress to take action to help mitigate the surge in immigration. He is also going to be looking at possible executive action that he can individually take to address the issue.
During his trip to Texas, he is going to be meeting with Border Patrol agents and local leaders and is set to call on congressional Republicans in order to push for the bipartisan border agreement to move forward in the House.

At the same time, Trump, who is widely expected to be the Republican nominee in the presidential race, is also going to be visiting the southern border to deliver his own remarks. The Republicans have widely been blaming the White House and Biden administration for the immigration crisis and the high numbers of illegal immigrants that have been crossing the border.

Trump has blasted Biden over immigration and has pledged that if he wins back the White House he would be carrying out massive deportation operations.

The White House has reiterated that President Biden had sent to Congress an immigration proposal on the first day he was in office, but that Congress has so far failed to pass any bipartisan proposal on border security, including the most recent one that the Senate had just failed to pass.
