(TargetLiberty.org) – On Monday Sen. Josh Hawley, R-Mo., sent a letter to Merrick Garland, the Attorney General pushing for the Department of Justice (DOJ) to launch a probe into possible financial connections between the anti-Israel student groups on U.S. college campuses and the Palestinian militant group Hamas.

In the letter, Hawley pointed out that following the recent surprise terrorist attacks by Hamas against Israel there has been an increase in support for violence against Israel and the Jewish people. He added that according to public reports, there are many far-left student groups that have lined up in support of the genocidal war launched by Hamas against the Jewish people.

He pointed out that such groups have appeared in multiple universities including Columbia University, the University of California, the University of Virginia, and Harvard. As he pointed out in Harvard alone there was a letter sent by 34 student groups that the “Israeli regime” was solely to blame for the “violence” that had broken out in the country. The statement was released on the day of the terrorist attacks in Israel, and noted that the events that had just unfolded did not exist in a “vacuum.”

Following an attack by an alleged pro-Palestinian student towards an Israeli student Columbia University also closed its campus to the public.

Haeley added that there are many other examples of such cases and that these student organizations appear to be supporting the murder of innocent civilians. He then pointed out that they were threatening Jewish Americans and that they appeared to be taking such action in a coordinated fashion.
